Public Awareness & Youth Engagement

Public awareness and public education for disaster risk reduction enables communities to identify hazards, take action to reduce their vulnerability and empowers them to participate in reducing future risks by turning available knowledge into specific local action.

In this sense, is imperative to enable engagement environments of education and empowerment for the Youth. Youth are agents of change in addressing global challenges in their local communities. Recent events around the world have delivered powerful examples of the potential of young people to mobilize, engage in social, economic, and political issues and to drive the change they want to see around them. In addition, Youth Engagement is intrinsic to build strong national societies since they play a vital role in volunteerism.
