The Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC) has developed many innovative and scalable tools that can enhance preparedness for individuals, youth, and communities worldwide. The toolkits below are designed to be used by Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies or other implementing partners within the countries they serve. For more information and to access the library of resources available for each GDPC tool, click on the appropiate toolkit below. Universal App Program
The Universal App Program includes a First Aid app and a Hazard app, which provide localizable and cost-effective tools for National Societies to make available to users, with the goal of increasing awareness about different types of emergencies and prepare them to act appropriately in times of disasters.
The Pillowcase Project
The Pillowcase Project implements an adaptable curriculum teaching preparedness lessons to school-aged youth around the world. A core component of the program is its 'Learn, Practice, Share' Framework, which emphasizes students sharing lessons learned with their households and communities.
The WhatNow Service is a global platform of Red Cross and Crescent actionable and contextualized messages on how individuals and households can prepare and respond to local hazards. Communication channels access the messages and broadcast them on their networks in tandem with hazard alerts they display.
Data Playbook (Beta)
The Data Playbook Beta is a recipe book or exercise book with examples, best practices, how to's session plans, training materials, matrices, scenarios, and resources. The data playbook will provide resources for National Societies to develop their literacy around data, including responsible data use and data protection.
