As the GDPC continues to improve the PrepareCenter.org platform, on April 2016 there are number of new features were added to the website to expand collaboration and knowledge sharing among practitioners by enabling them to communicate, discuss and share resources and experiences on the site. The new features include:
Which are virtual communities of practice (CoP) that allow users to start discussions, collect resources and stories. The Community Groups can be formed with a specific geographical focus - linked to specific country or region, and build around specific topics of interest, utilizing the pre-existing structure of topics and countries within PrepareCenter.org.
Users can access and join existing Community Groups by clicking on the dropdown list “Select A Group” in the top navigation bar.
The Community Groups provides peer-to-peer interactive platform, where community members can ask questions, share documents, media and stories within the Group or link to an existing resource or story making use of the available rich repository in PrepareCenter.org. The Contact form is a new feature that allows users to send email each other’s within PrepareCenter.org. The community member’s profile has been updated to incorporate the new “Email me” button which allows members to send emails to other members through on site contact form without sharing recipients’ contact information.
Community members can turn this feature ON and OFF by updating their profile preferences.
Users are encourage to have their profiles updated and informative and have their Personal Contact Form ON, this will help community members to better locate experts in specific topic areas, communicate and know more about each other’s.
Personal Library of Resources
Now users can create their own Library of Resources by adding any resource to their library. This will ease and speed the process of finding and bookmarking resources for quick access in the future.
To add resources to your library, all you need is to hit the button called "ADD THIS TO MY LIBRARY", that is located above the description of that resource.
Users can access their own library through their profile, by selecting the "Libray" tab.
Reorganizing of the Search Results in a way that makes it easier for users to locate what they are looking for. And Improved Cross-Referencing Contents which helps users to explore all correlated areas/topics, resources and contributors, and makes the navigation through the website easier and more straightforward.
